«Mapping musical identity
Lori Custodero, an Associate Professor of Music Education at Columbia University, suggests that musical identity is a "dynamic phenomenon, defined by multiple, evolving influences that connect experiences between disparate spaces and places, across time, and among groups of people." Mapping musical identity represents an effort to visualize this phenomenon through the process of mapping—examining it as an art of memory, as a vehicle for identity, and by placing it within the context of emotional mapping.
